Meet Virginia...and North Carolina

Last weekend, Lance and I took Henry to meet his extended family in North Carolina and Virginia. Lance's mom traveled with us from Atlanta which was a great help for Henry's first flight.  One of our 'big things' for having a baby was to make sure we started traveling with him at a young age so he(we) would get used to it. We drove to Atlanta the night before our flight so there wouldn't be such a hussle the day of.  Our new found trick is to stay at Springhill Suites and ride the sky tram with our luggage right to check-in..and you get to park your car there for up to 2 weeks for $25...it makes traveling a breeze:)

We checked out a Food Network find....  It is a korean taco hole in the wall that was pretty good.  We tried a bunch of dishes and all were pretty delicious.  Lance REALLY liked it and I would definitely recommend it as a cheap fun stop if you are in the area.
We headed back to the hotel and caught this funny video of Henry watching his daddy's favorite...Fox News.
The next morning we headed to the airport..and Henry was styling in his airplane pants, shirt, and socks...and of course hat...we got a BUNCH of looks and lots of smiles! Henry did great on the flight and slept the entire time.
Henry earns his wings! They actually brought back the wings at Delta and Henry got his!!
We got to Virginia safe and sound and went straight to Lance's Aunt Genevieve's home in Cheseapeake.  She had made a fabulous southern style dinner of country ham, beans, potato salad, cabbage, and fresh tomatoes and the most amazing amaretto bread pudding...and of course a few bottles of wine! Henry got a bath in the island sink too!!

The next day we spent shopping around Norfolk with Aunt Genevieve. That evening we had reservations for dinner and  Uncle Richard suprised us with a limo to drive us so we could all enjoy the night! When the limo driver arrived, Lance and I actually answered the door and turned her away..cause we were unaware of the "surprise".  We had so much fun taking Henry for his first limo ride. For dinner we went to the Vintage Tavern and had a fabulous dinner..Henry slept the entire meal! Unfortunately, when the limo went to take us home...it wouldn't start!!! After a few bottles of wine though...we were still all smiles.  Lance spotted Pat Robertson walking out of the restaurant so we chased him down for a photo-op.  His wife wasn't that amused...but he seemed to love the attention;) Richard ended up waking up his neighbor to come pick us up from the restaurant because the limo would never start.  What a night...and what a memory or baby Henry's first limo ride!

YUMMY
Aunt Genevieve threw a fabulous dinner party to introduce Henry to his extended family.  She channeled her garden club days and arranged fabulous flowers while the caterers made some yummy food.  It was great to catch up with everyone and Henry enjoyed getting passed around.  The cutest part of the night was gathering the next generation of kiddos together for a picture!! Sooooo sweet:)

On Sunday we took Henry to Windsor and met Lance's Aunt and her family at Lance's grandfather Henry's home.  We had a wonderful lunch and Henry decided to entertain us with lots of squeals and giggles.  Henry also met his Great Grandads friend Vivian.  It was a bitter sweet day to take baby Henry there and made us miss Grandad Henry very much! I know he was looking down smiling.  We also visited Grandad Henry's sister Reta.  It was love at first sight for both of them! I know Henry was overwhelmed with all the people he met but I'm sooo glad we did it! It was a little tiring but worth every second!

We spent our last night in Virginia munching on cheese and sipping on wine and still laughing about our fun adventures.  We really had a fabulous visit and appreciate the hospitality of our sweet sweet family.  I wish we lived closer but we soo cherish our time with them.  Our flight home was great..Henry slept the whole time again! We did have the most hilarious flight attendant EVER! Her voice and her look were HILARIOUS!!! We happened to capture her cartoon character of a voice for you to enjoy!
