| The apartment was exactly what we needed to take Henry and Sav. It was very convenient and safe and had tons of room when we needed to take a break from exploring. |
We stopped by Wards on the way down. Lance loved this place when he was growing up and I have to say I loved it too. It is definitely a heartattack in a bag but it was delish! Can't go wrong with a chili cheeseburger..
We rented an apartment in the French Quarter so we could walk to everything. It was a great choice...off from all the crowds but close enough to take it all in. Only thing we would have changed was the heat and humidity outside..but that didn't slow us down!
We passed up going to the 'fancy' places and decided to casual dining spots that we had seen on food network and had been recommended. And we were not disappointed. We of course went to Central Grocery and had a yummy muffaletta, had beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde, and po boys at Parkway Bakery. Unfortunately we didn't get to try Domilise's po boys and Willie Mae's fried chicken because they were both closed..but we'll go there next time:)
| Check out the olive pit that was in my muffaletta...dangerous! At least I know a few dentists:) |
We also tried out some spots we had never been to before...breakfast at Surrey's Cafe and dessert (i mean dessertS) at Angelo Brocato's. We really didn't eat a single bad thing anywhere!
Desserts at Angelo Brocato's are AMAZING...took us back to Italy and we definitely know why they have been there for over 100 years.
We also saw some interesting New Orleans characters...not unexpected but I sooo had to take some pics. So glad our Henry got to experience this....
We also did a little antique shopping. And I did almost purchase a $14,000 display table after mis-hearing the price...ha!
We enjoyed our trip away and did learn a couple of baby lessons....
1)The baby bjorn is priceless...we already knew its value..but this trip confirmed it!
2) No matter where you go..take a hat. My dad always reminds me..but I just happened to throw it in while packing and am so glad I did!
3) Keep your plans flexible...we had lots of 'on second thought I don't think Henry (we) can handle this'...so don't get disappointed when you do something not on the 'agenda'
We will definitely go back soon...either alone or when he is a bit older and probably in the fall or spring when we can handle the heat. We have sooo many foodie places to try, although I give us an A++ for taking a trip alone with our three month old!!
Oh and yes...my boys match:)
