Henry meets his cousins

Last weekend our family came down from Huntsville  We had a great time and Henry enjoyed meeting them.  I can remember when Anthony and Jonathan were born! And most of my family and friends remember when little Jonathan was the ring bearer in our wedding and sang Happy Birthday on the microphone after the band stopped playing at our reception.  Now these 'kids' are all grown up!  Unfortunately, Anthony is visiting other family in Lebanon for the rest of the summer so he missed our mini reunion.

Henry also asked his Uncle Buddy to be his godfather! We are so excited to start planning Henry's baptism.  With everything else going on right now...it is great to spend time catching up with family.

This is a great view of Henry's growing bald spot too...check that little head!! Just like Grandpa Ghafary:)

Le Bon Temps Roule

This weekend we celebrated Lance taking the bar with a weekend in NOLA.  We packed up the car...baby, dog, and all and headed to the Big Easy.  It was definitely fun but by no means "easy"....and of course we learned a lot more about traveling with a baby!  Lance and I LOVE to travel so we know that we just gotta fake it til we make it:)
The apartment was exactly what we needed to take Henry and Sav.  It was very convenient and safe and had tons of room when we needed to take a break from exploring.

Usually our trips revolved around food..but now we try to eat where we can survive with a baby without getting dirty looks.  We did get tons of looks this weekend...but not because of Henry's behavior.  I guess walking down Bourbon Street with a baby, a small dog on a leash, and a large drink in hand demands a second glance.
We stopped by Wards on the way down.  Lance loved this place when he was growing up and I have to say I loved it too.  It is definitely a heartattack in a bag but it was delish! Can't go wrong with a chili cheeseburger..

We rented an apartment in the French Quarter so we could walk to everything.  It was a great choice...off from all the crowds but close enough to take it all in.  Only thing we would have changed was the heat and humidity outside..but that didn't slow us down!

We passed up going to the 'fancy' places and decided to casual dining spots that we had seen on food network and had been recommended.  And we were not disappointed.  We of course went to Central Grocery and had a yummy muffaletta, had beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde, and po boys at Parkway Bakery.  Unfortunately we didn't get to try Domilise's po boys and Willie Mae's fried chicken because they were both closed..but we'll go there next time:)
Check out the olive pit that was in my muffaletta...dangerous! At least I know a few dentists:)

We also tried out some spots we had never been to before...breakfast at Surrey's Cafe and dessert (i mean dessertS) at Angelo Brocato's.  We really didn't eat a single bad thing anywhere!

Desserts at Angelo Brocato's are AMAZING...took us back to Italy and we definitely know why they have been there for over 100 years.

Breakfast at Surrey's was equally yummy...had an eclectic feel and delicious creole grub.  Definitely would recommend this joint.

We also saw some interesting New Orleans characters...not unexpected but I sooo had to take some pics.  So glad our Henry got to experience this....

We also did a little antique shopping.  And I did almost purchase a $14,000 display table after mis-hearing the price...ha!

We enjoyed our trip away and did learn a couple of baby lessons....

1)The baby bjorn is priceless...we already knew its value..but this trip confirmed it!

2) No matter where you go..take a hat.  My dad always reminds me..but I just happened to throw it in while packing and am so glad I did!

3) Keep your plans flexible...we had lots of 'on second thought I don't think Henry (we) can handle this'...so don't get disappointed when you do something not on the 'agenda'

We will definitely go back soon...either alone or when he is a bit older and probably in the fall or spring when we can handle the heat.  We have sooo many foodie places to try, although I give us an A++ for taking a trip alone with our three month old!!
Oh and yes...my boys match:)

Three months old

Henry is now 3 months old! I'm a little late at posting these pictures but it has been a hectic month around here.

Henry is growing everyday.  He weighs 14 lbs 7oz! His favorite things to do are play on his activity mat and hit the elephant spinny thing that's attached.  He loves to laugh at Savannah and the rocking cow in his nursery.
When he is fussy our favorite cure is the baby bjorn.  His nightly routine is bath (which he loves), play, bottle, and sleep.  He usually sleeps from 10ish to 4 or 5 am.  He has always slept in his crib at night, but doesn't like his crib for naps.  He has recently found his thumb..or should I say hand which he tries to cram in his mouth while we try to replace it with his pacifier.  It has become a game around here.

He hates getting into his car seat but usually calms down quickly once we get going.  He loves playing peek-a-boo...or what we call "where's henry."  He laughs a lot and loves to coo and of course say "hello"...well that's what I think he is saying:)

He is not a huge fan of tummy time unless he is gassy.  We love how he smiles when he see us.  He definitely recognizes his mommy and daddy and even Savannah.  He loves when his grandma says "weeeeeee" in a loud squeal and she will say it over and over for hours to make him laugh!

Lance and I will never claim to have this baby thing figured out.  It is usually a learn as we go kinda thing and there is usually a lot of "I don't know...let's just try."  That said, we are totally in love with Baby Henry! That smile is priceless to us and we can't believe it has already been three months since he came into our lives.

Lunch Club Reunion

Last night, Lance and I went to the McEvoys for a lunch club renunion.  We were missing Lindsey, Brentley, and Marcus but it is so hard to get us all in one place now.  "The lunch club" consists of my four closest friends from dental school..Erin, Julie, Morgan, Lindsey (and me).  We now have two babies from the group...Gia and Henry! A second generation of lunch clubbers;)  We had an amazing dinner last night.  Curry has become an expert on the egg and the food was fabulous! Oh and it was Gia and Henry's second date...a little more successful than their first.  This time they noticed eachother...Gia was a little more alert for this one and Henry maintained his "play hard to get" stance!
Henry loves his Aunt Morgie!

How beautiful is baby Gia?!?!
What a sweet picture!

Gia trying to wake up Henry for their date:)

Baby Gia hung out in Morgan's basket during dinner!

We celebrated Curry's birthday too!

Time for some action.

Gia is one curious baby! She wanted to play with Henry...and when he was awake..he did too:)

Gia loves her "younger man"!

Too sweet!

Have a fabulous weekend:)

Lots of hugs...

And lots of spoiling...
